The Chief and Police Department report directly to the Mayor.

Jeff George was sworn in as the Village of Ashville's Police Chief, Monday, January 29th, 2018. George, a 16-year veteran of the Ashville Police Department, was hired with a unanimous vote by the Village Council and was sworn in immediately after by Mayor Charles Wise.

Officer George will have some pretty big shoes to fill, replacing the beloved former Police Chief Doug Clark. Mayor Wise said during the meeting: “Jeff’s been doing the job since we lost Mr. Clark, which was a pretty big hit on all of us personally and professionally. It’s been hard for me to move forward but Jeff’s been doing a good job and I look forward to working with him for years to come.”

George said he’s looking to also continue to partner with other area agencies. “As a detective, I worked with the Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force and worked hand-in-hand with the detectives on things like the murder case we had,” he said. “We’ve worked very closely with them for a number of years now. I think it will continue and be even closer now. ”

Franklin-ChristmanOn February 17, 2003, I took the oath of office to uphold the laws of the United States, Ohio, and the Village of Ashville after appointment by Mayor Wise with the unanimous advice and consent of Village Council.

My primary objective is to work for the benefit of all residents in the Village within the framework of what was sworn to on February 2003.

As a resident, my actions in my office have an impact on not just my friends and neighbors, but also my family.

I appreciate the privilege to serve our community.
